Congressman William Lacy Clay, SR. - Of Counsel
Mr. Clay represented the First Congressional District of Missouri from 1969 – 2001, where he served on the Education and Labor Committee, the Committee on House Administration and as Chairman of the Committee on the Post Office and Civil Service. Mr. Clay was also one of the co-founders of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Mr. Clay served in the United States Army from 1953 - 1955, and he was a St. Louis alderman from 1959 to 1964. Prior to entering Congress, Mr. Clay held jobs first as a real estate broker and later as a labor coordinator. He worked as a business representative for the union of St. Louis city employees from 1961 to 1964 and then as an education coordinator with Steamfitters Local No. 562 until 1967. Mr. Clay earned his B.S. from St. Louis University in 1953.
